An Aspire Award-Winning Competition

The Aspire Awards, presented during the Show Choir National Finals are the show choir industry's top awards for professionals working in, and contributing to, the advancement of show choir.  These 11 categories recognize individual excellence in the areas of directing, choreography, costuming, arranging, regional competition and lifetime achievement as well as excellence by an industry professional and school in the areas of service. Nominees are voted on by peers, making them truly an award for the industry, by the industry.

Sioux City East is honored to have been nominated - in 2017, 2018, and 2019 - for the FAME Aspire Award for Best Regional Competition. We were thrilled to be named the recipients of this award in 2019! Thanks to all our students, parents, and guests who made this possible.

Our goal is to provide students, directors, and guests with the best and most educational experience possible. Our sincere thanks to our guests for spending their day at "Sing All About It!" and to FAME for their nomination!

East High Show Choirs

East’s 4 show choirs – The Headliners, Prestige, Entourage, and New Sound include about 170 singers, instrumentalists, and crew members in the program.

The Headliners:

Now in its 36th year, The Headliners have received more than 50 Grand Champion awards and innumerable captions for Best Vocals, Best Choreography, and Best Band.  In 2010, they were recognized by Parade Magazine as one of America’s Favorite Show Choirs (top 3), and in 2011, were featured in choreographer Mike Weaver’s book, Sweat, Tears, and Jazz Hands: The Official History of Show Choir from Vaudeville to Glee.  In 2016, The Headliners were recognized as the “Most Decorated” Show Choir in Iowa and placed 8th at Show Choir Nationals in Nashville in 2019.

The Headliners would like to thank all those who have helped make this year’s show possible. This year join us as the ghostly residents meet the new owners of the Starlit Hotel. Director: Jeremy Hess | Choreographer Mike Weaver

Prestige:

Prestige is the treble show choir and one of eight choral offerings at East High School. Throughout their five years of existence, they have been strong competitors in their division with numerous division championships and with many caption awards including Best Choreography and Best Vocals.

Prestige thanks our parents and supporters along with our gracious hosts for the opportunity to bring our story to the stage. The deck has been dealt and Prestige is ready to play their hand. Question is - do you know when to fold ‘em, know when to hold’em?

Entourage:

Entourage is in their fourth year as the tenor-bass show choir at Sioux City East. This year’s show features some of the iconic baritone songs from fan-favorite musicals, including The Book of Mormon, Newsies, Les Miserables, and Monty Python’s Spamalot. Entourage would like to thank everyone who has helped make this year’s show possible and wish all the performing groups the best of luck. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the Boys of Broadway. Director: Jeremy Hess | Choreographer: Jeremy Hess |Music Arranger: Jeremy Hess

New Sound:

New Sound is back again this year and is the mixed prep show choir at East High School. In 2020, New Sound earned Grand Champion awards at both Waconia and Bishop Heelan. New Sound is excited to bring the excitement and energy of the beloved American Amusement Park this year.
